Before you ride
Experience & requirements
Do I need experience to ride?+
Not at all. Our jet skis are beginner-friendly and we provide a full safety briefing and tutorial on how to operate them safely before you head out.
Is there an age requirement?+
The renter/operator must be at least 18 and present a valid photo ID. Per South Carolina law, anyone born on or after July 1, 2007 must carry a state-approved boater education card to operate the ski. Not sure if that's you? See our boater education guide — you can knock out a quick $10 course (or the free one) online in minutes. Kids are welcome to ride along with a responsible adult.
Do I need a boating license?+
No special license is required to rent. Depending on your age you may need a boater education card (see above) — our boater education guide has the two quickest ways to get one. We'll walk you through everything at check-in.
Do I need to sign a waiver?+
Yes — everyone operating or riding a WaveRunner signs a quick liability waiver before launch. You can sign it online here in about a minute, or we'll have it ready for you when you arrive.
How many people fit on a jet ski?+
Up to 3 riders per WaveRunner, depending on combined weight. Bring the crew.
How fast do they go?+
These 2026 Yamahas reach speeds of around 55 mph — plenty of thrill, with safety guidance to match.

What to bring & what's included
What should I bring or wear?+
Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, and shoes you don't mind getting wet. A dry bag for your phone and keys is a good idea. Coast Guard-approved life jackets are provided and required.
Do you provide life jackets?+
Yes — Coast Guard-approved life jackets are included with every rental and are mandatory on the water.
How does fuel work?+
You only pay for the fuel you actually use. To keep that cost low, we refuel at regular gas stations rather than marked-up marina pumps — so you pay standard pump prices, not premium marina rates. The fuel used during your ride is simply deducted from your refundable $200 security deposit, and the remaining balance is returned to you afterward.
Where do we meet?+
We'll confirm the exact launch ramp and meet time for your chosen lake — Keowee, Hartwell, or Jocassee — when you book.

How do I book?+

Is a deposit required?+
Yes — a flat refundable $200 hold per booking (not per ski), placed at checkout. After your ride we deduct only the fuel you actually used — at standard gas-station prices, not marina rates — and refund the remaining balance.
What's your cancellation policy?+
Cancel free up to 48 hours before your ride for a full refund. Inside 48 hours we'll do our best to reschedule you.
What happens if the weather is bad?+
If conditions aren't safe to ride, we'll reschedule you or give you a full refund. Safety comes first, always.
Can I rent more than one ski?+
Absolutely. Book as many WaveRunners as your group needs — just choose the quantity when you check availability.
